Service Description: Counselling services are offered for women who are dealing with abuse, making plans to leave abuse, or recovering from abuse and violence * offers one-to-one mentoring and educational programs * this short term, goal-oriented service uses cognitive behavioural and asset-based approach to:
  • assists women to use internal and external resources in order to make long term changes in their lives
  • develops the power of the individual by discovering and building upon the strengths of each woman
  • supports women to accomplish their goals for economic and emotional independence

Fees: Free
Application: Self-referral
Eligibility / Target Population: Women 18 years and older, including newcomers who are moving away from abuse, poverty and isolation * special program off-site for women 13-19 years * outreach to women with disabilities and young women

Language Notes: Interpretation is available for those dealing with abuse in counselling through MCIS
