Service Description: Specialized support and emergency services for people who are Deafblind

Intervenor Services - Trained intervenors facilitate communication for people who are Deafblind * helps clients build confidence and improve their safety and independence * provides DBCS clients in Ontario with Deafblindness, access to Intervenor services in an emergency situation *& methods of communication include:
  • American Sign Language
  • braille
  • larege-print notes
  • print on palm
  • two-hand manual
  • voice over (speaking with an adjusted tone, speed and volume)
 
Skills Development Services - Literacy and basic skills training for adults who are blind, Deafblind, or have low vision * individual and group instruction to support learning goals including employment, high school and post-secondary education, and daily skills * programs are offered in the students' preferred communication method * available virtually and in classrooms, community locations, or students' homes
