Service Description: The Non-Insured Clinic (NIC), previously the Non-Insured Walk-In Clinic (NIWIC), offers confidential primary care services to immigrants and refugees in Toronto who do not have health insurance or coverage under the Ontario Health Information Program.


The NIC will offer the same primary care supports as the NIWIC. Eligibility remains the same * The location and appointment-only changes are being made to provide a more central location for clients and reduce wait times.

Fees: Free for immigrants and refugees without health insurance
Application: Call on Monday or Thursday between 9am-9:30am to book a same or next day appointment
Eligibility / Target Population: Eligibility: Living in the City of Toronto, Without a primary care provider (family doctor, nurse practitioner; obstetrician/midwife for pregnant clients), Without medical insurance due to: 3-month wait period for OHIP, no legal immigration status (non-status), Refugee claim process and IFH is expired or refugee claim was rejected/suspended/ineligible, Moving to Toronto from another country for temporary work AND making minimum wage (or less) AND cannot afford private health insurance. Target Population: Current NIWIC clients, Prospective NIC clients, Community partners (CHCs, settlement organizations, community organizations), Referring providers (solo practitioners, other CHCs), Access Alliance staff
