Service Description: Victim Crisis Assistance Ontario
24/7 assistance when requested by police or an agency with which the VCAO Program has a protocol
  • practical assistance needs assessment
  • referrals to relevant community and government support services
  • support to assess victim/survivor eligibility and assist them to collect documentation to apply to the VQRP+
  • safety planning provision of information
  • enhanced support, particularly for victims/survivors of human trafficking and other vulnerable populations
  • community support sessions
  • client follow-up
Victim Quick Response Program+ (VQRP+)
Program of last resort providing short-term assistance to victims/survivors to increase immediate safety and lessen the impact of a violent crime by offering
  • financial assistance for crime scene clean-up, transportation, and counselling services, including traditional Indigenous health services
  • also offers enhanced supports for victims/survivors of human trafficking, victims/survivors of serious injuries, and families affected by homicide
  • additional aid may be offered to victims of human trafficking may include storage lockers, tattoo removal, and treatment at a recovery facility
Reclaim
Supports survivors of human trafficking by working with creditors to remove fraudulent and coercive debt
  • working with banks, telecommunication companies, car rental companies and property managers to remove fraudulent and coercive debt from the victim's name
  • advocating for survivors and ensuring they're not revictimized by a process that requires them to retell their stories to strangers

Application: Referral by police, emergency services, community agency or self referral
Eligibility / Target Population: Victims of crime and tragic circumstances; children under 16 years of age required consent/permission from a parent or guardian



VQRP+ -- victims of direct crime, immediate family members, and witnesses of violent crimes who do not have personal, public, or private support for VQRP+ expenses
Applicants must first try to connect with available community resources before applying
